11/27/17: Governor Bill Haslam

In his annual address to the Rotary Club of Nashville, Governor Haslam will share the success story of Tennessee over the past seven years, including renewed economic strength, the state’s emergence as a national model in education and its conservative fiscal leadership.

Since Haslam took office in 2011, Tennessee students have been the fastest improving in the country in academic achievement. High school graduation rates are at an all-time high, and Tennessee is the first state in the nation to offer high school graduates and all adults two years of community or technical college free of tuition and fees.

More than 391,000 private sector jobs have been created, and Tennessee’s unemployment rate is at an all-time low.

Working with the Tennessee General Assembly, the governor and his administration have cut more than $500 million in recurring spending, shrunk state government by 10 percent, balanced the budget every year, created $500 million in tax cuts and invested in infrastructure with no new debt.
