8/3/2020: Virtual Rotary-Melody Gibson, Civic Design Center

Topic: Design Your Own Neighborhood

Design Your Neighborhood. That’s the ambitious mission Nashville’s 7th and 8th graders are undertaking, thanks to the Nashville Civic Design Center’s innovative education program. DYN is teaching the students how to problem-solve transportation and affordable housing issues in their neighborhoods, while building awareness and exposure to the world around them. The Center’s Education Director, Melody Gibson, will introduce us to this project-based curriculum, that encourages students to recognize their ability to make change and become civic leaders themselves. This is a family-friendly program!

The Civic Design Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that works with residents, organizations, and municipalities to help improve the quality of life of all people in communities. We do this through engagement, education, connection and design.
