03/14/2022: Dr. Judith Overton, Mental Health in the Workplace

Dr. Overton is a behavioral health medical director for BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, which serves more than 3.4 million members across the state and around the country. As a board-certified psychiatrist and board-certified addiction medicine specialist, she leads multidisciplinary teams and develops new standards and protocols for improved patient care.

Over the course of her career, Dr. Overton has worked in private practices and served as a consulting psychiatrist for a variety of health facilities and educational institutions. Before joining BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, she served as Medical Director for Cedar Recovery Center in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. She has been a Clinical Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt School of Medicine  and has also worked with Vanderbilt’s Work Life Connections EAP program as a consulting psychiatrist.

Dr. Overton obtained her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She completed her medical internship and psychiatry residency at Vanderbilt University Hospital.
