2/10/20: Kelley Henry-Assistant Federal Public Defender

Kelley Henry is the supervisor of the Capital Habeas Unit (“CHU”) of the Federal Public Defender’s Office in Nashville. The Nashville CHU represents nearly half of Tennessee’s death row. She began her career in capital work as an intern for the Missouri Capital Punishment Resource Center in 1989. Kelley has represented indigent clients charged with capital crimes at trial, direct appeal, state post-conviction, federal habeas and clemency in Tennessee, Missouri, Arizona, and Oklahoma. Kelley is the recipient of the 2019 John Paul Stevens Guiding Hand of Counsel Award from the ABA Death Penalty Representation Project. She is happily married to John Bailey. Together they have two wonderful sons, Brennan and Chazzy.
