Over the next year, Nashville will be celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment. Elaine Weiss, award winning author of Votes for Women-The Great Fight to Win the Vote for Women, will get us ready with her description of the time when suffragists and anti-suffragists used “betrayals, bribes, bourbon, bigotry and the Bible” to convince lawmakers to kill or ratify the 19th Amendment -deciding once and for all whether women in America could vote.  A journalist by background, Elaine spent 5 years researching the dramatic last 6 weeks in Nashville leading up to the Legislature’s vote that gave us the 19th Amendment.
