Nashville hosts 2017 Rotary Large Club Conference
The Rotary Club of Nashville is currently the 3rd largest Rotary Club in the world. Our Executive Director, Suzanne Buchanan, is a member of The Association of Rotary Large Club Executive Directors. This organization is comprised of Rotary clubs with over 300 members and at least one full time staff person. Each year, Executive Directors take turns hosting a 3-day conference for the association. Executive Directors invite their President-Elect and President-Elect Nominee.
In January 2017, it was our turn to host the Rotary Large Club Conference. After two solid years of planning, we rolled out the “Welcome” mat to nearly 150 participants from 56 clubs, spanning 30 states, and Canada! Over 50 Nashville Rotarians volunteered to drive, greet, host, plan, prepare, and cleanup. Bestselling authors, including Julia Reed, provided motivational and entertaining keynote presentations, while unique break-out sessions with tangible learning opportunities stimulated leadership discussion. A mobile app provided the schedule and directory. On social media, guests used #lcc2017, and we were thrilled with the volume of activity.
Nashville is unlike any other place. To ‘show off’ our unique city, we hosted an event at the Country Music Hall of Fame, and held a private party at City Winery with accomplished singer-songwriters. A post-conference survey found high satisfaction rates, and many promises to vacation in Nashville.
